It has been nearly 20 years since I first began relying on E-Trakka for dynamic data analysis for horses in my practice. Under the visionary guidance of the pioneer in performance metrics in the racehorse, Andrew Stuart, this company has continued to evolve by bringing regular updates both on the software and hardware sides.

What sets this system apart from any other systems in this area are the following:

1. Robust Design- This reliability of this system is remarkable. With basic care, I have systems that have been in service for 10 years.
2. Accurate Data Acquisition- The unique design of the heart sensors and the fast GPS engine are both unique features that improve the reliability of the data presented. Other systems utilize aggressive smoothing software to present the data as seamless even when there is data lost during the workout.
3. Clear and easy to read data. – The presentation of the workout data is so brilliantly and efficiently visualized that the key elements of the workout are very easy to identify. There is no need to scroll through pages of clinically insignificant data to drill down to what is actionable.
4. The real time element is a unique feature that allows one to follow the workout visually in real time either while watching or remotely. The initial information gleaned from watching the Heart rate/ Pace scenario can immediately determine how stressful the workout has been and could direct me to meet the horse directly after the workout for a soundness evaluation or endoscopic examination.

E-Trakka was developed before everyone was using wearable metrics and now, thanks to Andrew Stuart’s vision, many racehorses around the world are now relying on this type of data. While there are now other companies following the path laid out by Andrew Stuart and E-Trakka, from my perspective, E-Trakka is still the leader in the industry and I will continue to enjoy how the simple to use, reliable, efficient system empowers me to be a more effective racing Veterinarian.
